Step 1: Have the Right Tools for the Job

Before you begin, make sure you have everything listed below:

Pencil. Make sure it’s easily erasable in case your measuring marks are a bit off.
Tape measure. Always steel, never cloth.
Power drill. A cordless drill is always convenient for reaching high, out-of-the-way places.
1/16" drill bit – The perfect size to pre-drill your screw holes, so you can avoid wall damage.
Screwdrivers – One flat head and one Philips.
Level – To make sure you hang your blinds perfectly straight on the first try.
Stepladder – The sturdier the better. Don't use lightweight or flimsy furniture.
